Fire Prevention Law and Landlord Obligations
The Fire Prevention Law and Building Standards Law mandate that residential properties be equipped with certain fire safety equipment. Since 2006 in particular, the installation of residential smoke and heat detectors has been mandatory in all residential properties, whether rental or owner-occupied. However, routine inspection and maintenance of these installations are essentially the responsibility of the landlord or property management company.
